Here, we have listed some of the most commonly asked questions about our hair transplant surgeries, along with their answers in the hope of easing your mind. If you have a question that isn’t listed here, please Contact Us!
You will be pleasantly surprised!
We will apply local anaesthetic prior to your procedure, so while there may be a tiny amount of pain from those initial injections, it is unlikely you will feel anything other than mild discomfort from that point onwards.
Similarly, there may be some mild irritation after the surgery but this will clear up very quickly thanks to the saline spray we provide and our aftercare pack.
We do recommend taking 7 –14 days off work in order to facilitate a complete and stress-free healing process.
There is a chance you will heal quicker than this but it is always important to be safe.
Some people decide to work from home in the days following their procedure while any signs you’ve had the procedure resolve.
It is worth discussing with your HR department as many companies have a policy for sick pay during this time and will state Hair Transplant or perhaps Aesthetic Medicine in their absence policy.
Male hair loss is a very common side effect of ageing in men and will be experienced at some point during the lives.
By the age of 50 around half of men will have some degree of hair loss.
Each hair follicle tends to produce one strand of hair for 2-6 years, after which the hair will shed and a new hair will begin to grow from the follicle.
Since stem cells are involved in inducing this process, hair loss can begin to set in over time as stem cells lose their effectiveness and a hormone common in males known as dihydrotestosterone causes the follicles to shrink and struggle to grow new hairs.
In general, it is best to discuss this with us on the phone or in person.
The reason for this is that everybody’s hair loss situation and procedure requirements are different and so the answer isn’t always the same.
There are certain medical hair loss treatments that may be applied in the months running up to your procedure that can increase the quality of your results.
It is best to discuss this with us first to be 100% sure you aren’t using any treatments that can have a negative effect or wasting money on products that won’t make any difference.
Every case of hair-loss is different and this answer often depends on you.
If you are unhappy with your hair-loss and believe it is having a negative impact on your confidence or self-esteem, we highly recommend contacting us to book a free, no-obligation consultation so we can discuss your options and what our surgeons can achieve for you.
Absolutely not!
You can request facial hair transplants to combat hair loss of the beard, sideburns, moustache, eyebrows and more.
We do need to assess this on a case by case basis which is why you should book a consultation if you wish to discuss it.
To let us know of an issue that you are experiencing, just get in touch with our registered manager Ciara Lawless. You can find our complaints policy here.
At the back of your neck where the donor follicles are harvested, there will be some tiny scratches that may leave minimal scarring.
These scratches are less than 1mm in diameter and it is very unlikely this scarring will be noticeable.
There are no other side effects and hair transplants are very non-invasive.
Most of our procedures take place over a single day, meaning you can get back to your daily life as soon as possible.
Larger cases may require two days.
All of our hair transplants are undertaken by our hair transplant surgeons at our flagship purpose-built clinic at:
Head Quarters Hair Transplants
44 Charles Street,
City Centre,

It is typically required that you have short hair in order to give our surgeons the most freedom and accuracy possible.
However, we are able to do this for you on the day of your procedure and it isn’t something you should worry about.
If you do not wish to have your hair cut, please make this known.
We assess this on a case to case basis and will help you to avoid it if at all possible.
Choosing a reputable clinic and surgeon is the most important choice of the whole process.

Every patient is unique and the most suitable hair transplant proceedure for you will be determined at initial consultation and discussed in detail with you.
We will always discuss all options with you and give our expert recommendation. In some larger cases of hair loss a combined proceedure may be applicable.
Hair transplants provide extremely minimal scarring that is rarely visible.
The end result looks natural and healthy and most people won’t even be able to tell you have had a procedure.
Aftercare does vary slightly from patient-to-patient depending on your individual procedure and requirements.
We provide more information on our aftercare page but the most important thing for you to know is that our aftercare team will always be reachable for any advice and guidance you might need.
This is a normal occurrence and an important part of the procedure.
The transplants hair moult because they have been disturbed. The follicle and stem cells remain under the skin and will regrow health new hair in due course.
At around 2-4 months post-op your the transplanted hair will begin to push through the skin, quite fine at first.
This will happen at different times and at different speeds causing a patchy start. In 12 months you can expect a full regrowth of your transplanted hair.
We advise avoiding swimming for 14 days after your procedure.
Most swimming pools contain chlorine which should not come into contact with broken skin or healing wounds.
Even pools without chlorine can pose an infection risk to your healing scalp.
Once 2 weeks have passed and your scalp has fully healed, this is no longer an issue.
Strong direct sunlight can cause damage to the newly transplanted follicles so we would advise avoiding activities such as sunbathing at least for a couple of weeks until the follicles have healed completely.
Every case is different, please check with your surgeon for more information.
It’s important to be aware that this will not be the case immediately.
3-6 weeks after your procedure, most of your transplanted hair will likely fall out, leading you to look similar to how you looked before your procedure.
This may be disheartening at first but this is actually when the real hair growth begins.
From here, your follicles will each begin naturally growing hair again, each starting at different times and at different speeds.
It will take a few months for this to balance out and up to a year to achieve full, natural, healthy hair growth.
Yes!
While natural hair loss can continue, hair that has been transplanted typically comes from the back of the scalp where hair loss is very rare.
As a result, these new hairs are much hardier and the vast majority of patients who have gone through a hair transplant procedure have a healthy head of hair for the rest of their lives.
We advise avoiding strong direct sunlight for 14 days after the procedure.
Even after that, you should avoid sunburn to the scalp until over 2 months after the procedure.
We highly recommend keeping this in mind when booking a procedure and having your hair transplant after a holiday instead of before if at all possible, or keep your scalp covered during your holiday.
It is not a good idea to wear protective helmets, or hats at all, for 7 days after your treatment.
Alcohol can have a negative effect on the healing process and so we recommend you avoid drinking for 7 days after your procedure.
There is not one answer to this as the cost of a hair transplant procedure varies based on the patient, their current hair the strength of their donor site, their ideal end goal etc.
For more information on how much it may cost you personally, we recommend booking a free consultation so we can investigate your specific requirements.
