FUT, otherwise known as the ‘’strip method’’, differs from FUE only by the way we remove the hair.
Your hair surgeon removes a thin strip of skin containing hairs from the back-donor area. The resulting line is closed via the trichophytic closure method and sutured using dissolvable stitches. The strip is
cleaned and dissected into individual grafts under advanced microscopes. The hair grafts are then placed into micro incisions in the recipient area (bald or thinning areas of the scalp).
The FUT scar is no more than a pencil thin line once fully healed that’s easily hidden within the surrounding hair using a grade 4 clipper guard or above.
FUT hair transplants may be better suited to those who don’t wish to shave their hair around the back and sides. FUT hair transplants commonly deliver more grafts more quickly than other methods. Therefore, if a large number of grafts are required, this method should be carefully considered.
Some patients are more suitable for FUT procedures than FUE procedures. More complex cases may
require a combination of both for maximum coverage and density.
