What To Expect At Your First Hair Transplant Consultation

What is a Hair Transplant Consultation?

The idea of a hair transplant can sometimes sound quite intimidating and off-putting.

However, it is a very simple procedure, and should not cause any worries.

Hair transplants are the most effective way to overcome hair loss, which is why we offer FREE consultations with our expert team, allowing us to discuss your specific hair loss, the results you are hoping for and your personal requirements.

After all, every case of hair loss is different and our team can look at your specific case and come up with a treatment plan for the best possible results.

This also means your treatment stays cost-effective and you won’t be recommended to go through any procedures that won’t benefit you.

What can you expect when attending your initial hair transplant consultation?

Are you suffering from hair loss and feel like you’re out of options to solve it?

Are you worried you may have left it too late?

Or anxious about whether a hair transplant would look natural?

Does it bother you imagining how others might respond to the news?

Many academic studies have connected hair loss to decreased self-esteem, confidence, and increased anxiety.

This is why it’s crucial you contact us so we can get you back on track and feeling like yourself.

Our hair transplant procedures provide unrivalled results and we can put your mind at rest and ensure that you are completely aware of what the outcome will be.

We can also answer all of your queries in a relaxed and laidback environment. It’s important that you only book a consultation with a hair clinic with a strong reputation so that you can be confident the information you’re receiving is accurate.

You can rely on Head Quarters Hair Transplants as the team have all been recruited based on their vast amount of industry experience and reputations for being the best!

If you click here you will be able to fill out an enquiry form and attach photos of your hair from all angles or simply email a few photos to us with your contact information and enquiry.

Our team of experts will get back to you as soon as possible with some advice and guidance on the best way forward for you.

We find patients often want a procedure done for a specific date, for example, in order to attend a wedding or other special event.

If this interests you, we do recommend planning the procedure at least a year in advance to allow time for natural growth leading to the best possible results.

On attending your consultation, you will have the chance to speak to an experienced hair loss specialist.

All of our team at Head Quarters are friendly, knowledgeable and experienced enough to deal with your concerns and to help manage your expectations by taking you through case studies so you understand what our world-class surgeons are capable of.

Rest assured that results are our key indicator of success and if we do not feel we can get you the best results, we will make this clear and never take on a patient unless we can exceed their expectations.

Medical Background – A Necessary Step to Assess Your Eligibility

The very first step will be a medical questionnaire you need to fill in at the beginning of hair transplant consultation.

This is a crucial part of establishing whether a hair transplant/restoration procedure would be both safe and effective for you based on both your past medical history.

Almost all patients suffering from pattern baldness will be eligible, however, there may be considerations such as medications, skin conditions and previous or scheduled future surgical procedures that might make the procedure impossible or mean it has to be postponed for now.

For more information on what causes male balding and which medications might be a barrier, please check out our post on the male balding process.

Examination of the Scalp to Assess Hair Loss

The next thing you can expect is an examination of your scalp which is crucial to finding out the full level of your hair loss and can also give us pointers regarding the kind of procedure that will work best for you.

It also helps us to plan how many hair grafts will be needed for the best and most natural-looking end result.

Some patients will be hoping for a thicker, denser look that appears thicker and more healthy than their hair ever did naturally, whilst others will simply want a more low-key, natural looking result.

The density will also somewhat depend on how strong the patient’s donor area is and whether hair loss has occurred in one area (e.g. front of the head, top of the head or the crown) or several.

Your hair density will also need to be evaluated and the result of this impacts how many donor follicles we are able to harvest.

Another important factor at this stage is the patient’s financial situation and expectation of cost as transplants will be charged partially based on the volume of hairs that will be taken from the donor area and replanted in the target area.

The examination aims to help manage patient expectations and let our experts get acquainted with your scalp.

It also helps build patient confidence with the visualisation of their new potential hairline and the opportunity to ask any questions you might have.

How long after my consultation is surgery?

It, of course, depends somewhat on the procedures we already have booked for other patients and your own availability, but we are able to book you in for a procedure immediately once we have got all the information we need.

If your consultation shows that you can be benefited by one of our procedures, and you agree that you would like to go ahead, we can confirm a date for your procedure on the spot.

Is a Hair Transplant Worth It?

You will likely feel at least slightly hesitant or worried about some aspect of having a hair restoration procedure.

These thoughts can be mitigated and your mind put at rest at this point by your consultant as he will explain to you exactly what is to be expected in each stage of the process, also giving you a full timescale for your recommended procedure.

You only need to take a look at our testimonials page to see that this is one of the most valuable things you’ll ever do – we change the lives of our patients for the better on a daily basis!

What to Expect After a Hair Transplant

We give all our patients detailed and easy to read information about what to expect following the HQ Hair Transplant procedure.

However, at this stage, we can also give you an idea of the amount of time it will likely take to heal and any aftercare treatments you are likely to need.

There will then be time to answer any further questions or queries you may have.
